Day Walks
This walking programme provides an opportunity for members to meet one another and maintain their walking fitness while not in the Alps. The walks are often strenuous and some entail significant cumulative ascent. Most of the walks in the South of England are organised to start at a Railway Station with a train connection to a central London Mainline Station, and often connections to regional stations too, although details of these are not usually given. Most of the Southern walks, and some Northern walks, have a pub stop for lunch, followed by the second stage of the walk in the afternoon. Please do not consume your own food or drink at the pubs without obtaining the landlord's consent.
Although the walks are organised by members primarily for members of the AAC (UK) [also OeAV, DAV and AVS], non-members are welcome to take part, to meet members and to learn about the Club. If, as we hope, non-members become regular participants then they would be expected to join the AAC(UK).
At railway stations meet outside the main entrance. If severe weather warnings are given, contact the AAC(UK) Office beforehand. The current Ordnance Survey Maps are indicated by their number, prefaced by: LR (Land Ranger) for 1:50,000, E (Explorer) or EOL (Explorer Outdoor Leisure) for 1:25,000 maps.
Please note that in some circumstances, the organiser is entitled to decline to accept a non-member who is inadequately prepared or equipped for the prevailing conditions.

Day Walks
The AAC(UK) recognises that climbing, hill and country walking and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.
Under the Club rules, the Club, its officers, committee members and persons acting on behalf of the Club cannot be held liable for any loss or injury occurring to any member of the Club while taking part in its activities.
