A volunteer is sought to assume complete editorial control of the Club’s quarterly Newsletter from the end of 2011, soliciting content, selecting that which is most appropriate, liaising with our proof-reader and interfacing directly with the graphics designer who takes care of layout. If this challenge is of genuine interest to you, please contact the Club Secretary via the AAC(UK) Office for further details.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) relating to Club Membership

How do I join the AAC(UK)?

This is explained in detail in our Membership page.

What are the benefits of joining the AAC(UK)?

The Benefits page will tell you about the many benefits of membership.

How can I pay for membership?

The easiest way to (re)join and pay for membership, if you have a debit or credit card with 16 digits, is using this website. Please go to the Membership page where you will see it all explained. The other way is to contact the AAC(UK) Office and ask for a Membership Form, which is comprehensively self-explanatory and which additionally enables you to pay by cheque.

Is there a special deal for families?

We strongly encourage family membership, although there are no special discounts for whole familes who join.

Is AAC(UK) only for people living in the UK?

Not at all, the AAC(UK) has members from all over the world.

For how long does membership last?

The membership year is the calendar year, but is extended to provide for those going to the mountains over the Christmas – New Year holiday, and to allow time for members to renew. So for example membership is confirmed when the membership card is issued, which may be in early December of the preceding year. In this case membership continues for up to 14 months until the end of January next year. However, neither membership nor insurance cover in January next year will be valid unless membership is renewed before the end of January next year.

Do I get a membership card?

Every member receives a membership card which they must sign (with children’s [JG & KD] cards being signed instead by a parent or guardian who is a member).  You need to show both this card and your passport (or other identity document) to obtain the benefits of membership.

Can I join or renew over the phone?

No, please use either our secure Membership page or ask our AAC(UK) Office for an application form (which may be sought by phone).

How long does it take to process a membership application?

We do try to process both postal and website applications within three working days of receiving them, but this cannot be guaranteed. In periods of high demand or in the event of force majeure an even longer time must be allowed. Note that receiving the membership cards may take longer due to postage delays.

Does the insurance start as soon as I apply for membership online?

For insurance-related FAQs, please refer to our separate Insurance FAQs page.

What if my membership-related question is not in this list?

Please contact the AAC(UK) Office, and we will do our best to answer it.
