Notes

  1. An error in the data entry could invalidate your membership and associated benefits. Details marked with an * (asterisk) are mandatory.

  2. Your passport and membership card presented together provide ID, both for use of huts and for using the rescue services as covered by the insurance included in membership. Both must be carried and the name must be exactly the same on both.

  3. The membership form is for up to 2 applicants at the same address. If more than 2 applicants share the same address please put their details in the comments section at the bottom of the page. For more than 2 unrelated applicants at the same address please also add details of additional next of kin in the comments section at the bottom of this page.

  4. Names: Please ensure these are exactly as on your passport.

  5. Date of Birth: Required for your membership to be processed.

  6. Address: Your full postal address, including UK postcode, or equivalent if outside UK.

  7. Telephone Numbers & e-mail address: An email address for the first applicant is required to ensure delivery of this form, telephone numbers are not essential but enable the Club to contact you quickly if there are any queries about your details.

  8. Next of Kin: Required in case of an emergency. A member may be unable to give clear information following an accident and the rescue services may ask the AAC office to provide contact details.

  9. Data Protection Act 1998: Data supplied by members is held in a computer by AAC (UK). The Club is registered under the Data Protection Act 1998. A member sometimes requests other members’ contact details to publicise an event for a specific group of members. We request your permission to pass on your contact details to such a member but have NO plan to publish member details to all members.

  10. Family Membership: Membership cards will show individual membership categories.

Two Parent Families: If both parents are AAC(UK)* members (first parent as category A, JUN or SEN, and second parent as category B) then their children born in 1994 or later can receive free membership if their full details are provided.

Single Parent Families: If a bona fide single parent with custody of child(ren) is an AAC(UK)* member (as category A, JUN or SEN) then his/her children born in 1994 or later can receive free membership if their full details are provided. Not available to families with two parents where one parent is not a member of AAC(UK)*. Any false declaration of eligibility may invalidate your insurance.

    * ie both parents must be members of the same section of the OeAV.

  11. Insurance cover included in OeAV membership is provided by Austrian companies and governed by Austrian law. See AWS leaflet, downloadable from the Benefits page.

  12. When you have completed this form and pressed the ‘Proceed to payment’ button, you will be connected to a secure payment facility.  Communication between you and this facility is encrypted, to protect your card details etc.  The facility operates to strict security standards devised by the card payment industry.  It incorporates a number of anti-fraud measures, which help to protect you if your card has fallen into the wrong hands.

  13. For each applicant please fill in the details according to the table to the left.

  14. Please review the data that you have entered carefully, before pressing the "Proceed to payment" button.  Once payment has been authorised, a copy of the data that you have provided will be emailed to the email address of the first applicant. Sensitive payment data is automatically excluded from this. The data you have entered will be used by the AAC(UK) Office to process your application.

  15. Hut Fund:  Maintaining the network of Mountain Huts that provide sleeping accommodation and sustenance at altitude throughout the Eastern Alps is a core OeAV role and burden.  AAC(UK) does not own a mountain hut, nor do we have a 'work area' with responsibility for waymarking and path maintenance.  Instead the Club helps smaller hut-owning sections with costly projects, often to meet environmental or modern health and safety legislation, through donations from the Hut Fund, to which members have contributed generously over the years.  Please keep up the tradition.

  16. Email messaging may be used, for example, to remind all members within one geographical area, of a lecture or walk about to be held in their area, or 'HOT PRESS' seasonal information about access to the Alps.

  17. B versus SEN membership: A spouse/partner of a category A, SEN, JUN, or FM member (who is not also an FM member) should always apply for a category B membership. However if the spouse was born in 1950 or earlier, provided he/she is not the second parent of a Two Parent Family, he/she will be issued with a category SEN membership card. In some situations category SEN members can be entitled to reduced prices.

  18. Children's membership cards should be signed by a parent or guardian.

  19. If you are making an international payment (and you do not often do this) we suggest that you contact your card issuer (eg bank), to notify them that you are about to make an international payment off the card. Otherwise your payment might be interpreted as potentially fraudulent and therefore could be refused by your bank.

2012 Membership Application Form

It is recommended that you apply for membership in good time before any intended trip, however if this is not possible please indicate clearly in the “Comments” box that your travel is imminent. You may also wish to telephone the AAC(UK) Office to make your intentions clear. We will endeavour to meet your wishes, but in times of high demand or force majeure this cannot always be guaranteed.

NB you must be in possession of and sign your membership card before you travel in order to be sure of securing all benefits of membership. By signing your OeAV membership card you accept the Constitution and Standing Orders of AAC(UK). Important information will be provided on the back of your membership card.

Please read the Notes (to the right of the application form) before completing the form itself.
